I have to give this tripod only one star because the product description is seriously wrong. The fully extended length is 6 inches, not 16 inches. Another reviewer complained of the same problem, saying it was only 8 inches. I measured it myself, and can confirm that the fully extended length is only 6 inches.

This was a fatal flaw for me, so I returned it without using it at all.

I take photos, lots of them, of mushrooms, feathers, moss, and wildflowers. Even though I think I have a pretty steady hand, when I bring my macro photos up on the computer and enlarge them, some photos have to be discarded. They aren’t crisp and sharp.
All the photo guidebooks recommend using a tripod to improve your photos. I didn’t want to be loaded down with lots of camera gear while walking in the woods. When I discovered this mini tripod, I grabbed it up. Just the thing I needed. It’s compact enough to fit in the pocket of my shorts and my Canon Powershot goes into the other pocket with some back up batteries.
Right away, I could see an improvement in my close ups. When I think of all the wasted shots, I sure wish I’d found this years ago. It’s easy to screw onto the camera. A very useful tool for photographers out in the field.

    Bogus knockoff, June 26, 2011

I own a genuine Kodak Digital Camera Tripod (p/n 4F7733) shown in this picture. It extends 16″, has a metal socket ball, and is the best mini tripod I’ve ever owned. I like it so much I purchased 3 more from this listing, figuring the reviewers complaining about the length just didn’t extend the legs the full 3 sections.

Unfortunately, the items delivered were 7.5″ tripods with cheap plastic socket balls. Set screws don’t even come close to locking down the head. They’re not the items shown in the picture. Packaging is a small, plain, unprinted white box with no Kodak branding. Labeling is a small, sloppily-affixed, home-printed sticker saying, “Kodak Digital Camera Tripod/Mini – Triod- table-top New,” and a bar code. There is no part no. to confirm Kodak manufacture. This appears to be a bogus knockoff.

Rather than throw good time and money after bad returning the tripods, I’m keeping them to make desk sculptures.
